Not very long ago, I had the pleasure to review the Bugatti B-1 torch lighter. Recently, I just got my hands on another, the Colibri Reload Torch Lighter. I did a bit of research on this torch and I found that it is American bred lighter, manufactured in Providence, Rhode Island. To me that is a plus before I even opened the box. Colibri is a manufacturer of Men’s and Women’s jewelry, clocks, lighters, pens, and luxury cigar accessories. The Colibri Reload lighter features an innovative design where the butane is stored in a removable, replaceable tank. When the tank is empty, you simply remove it, throw it away, and replace it with a new one. This eliminates the problem that other lighters have of not performing well after refilling due to air getting into the tank or impurities gunking up the internals.

The lighter features a powerful single flame, wind resistant torch that will toast the foot of even the largest cigar you can throw at it. The lighter is very comfortable to grip. It’s large enough to fit well in my big paws but small enough that I forget about it being in my pocket all day. The fuel tanks come filled with premium triple refined Colibri butane and an extra one in the box. Replacements come in 3 packs with an MSRP of $7.49 (StogieBoys has em for $6.25). Now, I’m not a fan of having to buy extra stuff to make a lighter work, but I see it this way, you’ll have to buy butane for it anyway, and at around 6 bucks a can, I’m taking a good guess that with this fuel window, you’ll come out about even. You’re actually coming out ahead when you factor in you don’t have to worry about purging the lighter or deal with misfiring issues.

The only thing I wish it had was a double flame because I love toasting when I use a torch and with a single flame, I always end up taking about 2 minutes to get the stick going. Other than that, at around $25 bucks, you can’t go wrong with both getting a great lighter and promoting American products!
