Besides actually smoking a cigar, nothing excites a cigar smoker more than those great few moments when he is in front of the humidor selecting his cigar. We all know how much we love cigars, and regardless of how many cigars we smoke a day or week, the selection of each cigar is always meaningful. Continue reading →
Well, spring is in full bloom and my allergies are as well. With that said it’s time to find a stick that will be on the daily rotation for when you are on the back nine or doing that weekend yard work. If you are like me, you keep a humidor for everyday goodies and a premium humidor for the special occasions like trips, holidays etc. The Cusano MC can definitely find a place in your regular rotation. I have to admit, the idea of a rum flavored cigar seems brilliant. The problem however usually lies in the execution, not in the idea. With that in mind, I decided to give the Rum Runner Pirate a try. Coming in a 7” in length and a 42 ring gauge, it’s considerably larger than most cigars that bear the “flavored” tag. Today I take on the Nat Sherman Host Selection. It’s a stick I haven’t had in a while, but it’s an old faithful I can always count on as a tasty mild smoke. The pre-light aroma of this cigar was quite sweet with a hint of a grassy smell. Continue reading →

This glorious spring weather in the Northeast has allowed me to do my first review of the season from the back deck. Now in weather like this, I could probably smoke a grape White Owl and cause it a masterpiece, that’s how much I am loving this sunshine. Alas, I have something that is a far cry from the White Owl, and that is the CAO Brazilia Gol. Continue reading →

The second stick in my line of Diesel reviews is the D5. My previous Diesel was the Unholy Cocktail, now to see if there are any similarities in these sticks. The D5 wrapper is dark and oily with minimal veins. The pre-light draw seems good. The cigar is firm and heavy in the hand just like the Unholy Cocktail, and this one has a red band on the foot. Well Daylight Saving Time is upon us and with that, spring is in the air. It’s time to get out in the yard and on your porches to enjoy your smokes without a triple fat goose bomber jacket. A.J Fernandez Diesel cigars are the perfect smokes to do this with. Continue reading →

A great everyday cigar at a great price doesn’t mean you have to settle for a less quality cigar. NFL Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas talks Padilla. Continue reading →
Today I am jumping into a Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 2nd Robusto. If you are unfamiliar with the Rocky Patel seconds, allow me to elaborate. According to RP, the seconds are the same blends, but have been rejected for cosmetic reasons. It could be the wrapper is a bit blotchy looking, a little too veiny, or some other small imperfection. The claim is that they smell and taste the same, so I am here to put that theory to the test. Continue reading →

Well the New York football Giants won the Super Bowl and it is time to get the irons out for golf season, get ready for some NASCAR left turns and prepare for spring training in Major League Baseball. A good cigar to consider doing all this with is the GESVS (I should have warned you, I hate long names for cigars so there you go). It’s probably one of the better smokes I’ve had in a wicked long time. Continue reading →

The Man O’ War Robusto is a noteworthy cigar for many reasons. The name alone is enough to make you think about pulling it from the humidor. Touted as a full bodied cigar with medium-full strength, it will hit you with a bit of spice and a creamy puff of white smoke right off the bat. Continue reading →

Have you discovered how much better your favorite cigar tastes when you smoke it while sipping a good single malt whisky? While brandy, port, wine and beer complement a cigar, I’ve found that none of them approach malt whisky as the ideal partner. Continue reading →
Not very long ago, I had the pleasure to review the Bugatti B-1 torch lighter. Recently, I just got my hands on another, the Colibri Reload Torch Lighter. I did a bit of research on this torch and I found … Continue reading →
